Justin Barrett

Justin P. Barrett is an American entrepreneur, inventor, artist, and author. He has spent nearly two decades building companies at the intersection of technology, health, and human experience — from organic apparel to display optics to artificial intelligence.

As co-founder and CEO of Eyesafe®, Justin built the global standard for display light health — the technology embedded in screens from Dell, HP, Samsung, Lenovo, LG Display, and BOE that protects eyes at the hardware level. With 50+ patents, 400M+ certified devices, and partnerships with the world's largest OEMs, Eyesafe became the “Dolby of Light” under his leadership. The company has been named to the Inc. 5000, ranked #1 fastest-growing company in Minnesota, and won a CES Innovation Award.

Before Eyesafe, Justin founded Holy Cow, a pioneering organic apparel brand sold at Nordstrom, Whole Foods, and Von Maur. Growing up around his family's silk screening business in Edina, Minnesota, he learned early that how something is made matters as much as what it does. That principle — craft in service of purpose — has shaped everything since.

Justin is also a painter working in oil, a published novelist, and the founder of Alive LLC, an AI practice built on a conviction that artificial intelligence should help people become more fully human. At Alive, he designs agent architectures, knowledge systems, and AI-powered products for lean teams — including InnerGuide, an AI wellness companion that uses six therapeutic modalities to help people understand themselves more deeply.

A University of Minnesota Carlson School graduate, Justin is based in Minneapolis. He is a named inventor on display technology patents, a three-time Inc. 5000 honoree, and an EY Entrepreneur of the Year finalist. He believes technology and soul can coexist — and that the best work happens at their intersection.
